5.0 out of 5 stars Whoever tought history had a funny side?

Although historical fiction, Mr. McLaughlin has captured my heart with his book, from a historical sense. So many of the mentioned participants of Alexander’s military exploits were real persons in history, and a few were not. 3 of such mentioned and were described a bumbling generals had their names taken from the 3 Stooges. Aside from the many quotations from Star Trek’s Doctor McCoy, other quotes are to be found in the book’s pages from Moby Dick’s Ahab and General Patton, to name a few.

Throne of Darius is a seriously lighthearted adventure during a brutal time in man’s history. Told from the point of view of the losing side, Throne of Darius creates a new perspective on these historical events, showing that Alexander wasn’t that Great and that history can be funny.

Bravo, my friend, Bravo. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Having read all of the author’s books and other material I looked for the ever present passion and attention to detail. Not only was it there but it has gotten even better. Also, having grown up in the Mediterranean area I always wonder if someone else can capture that special feeling of being there and appreciate its special history and importance. Mark McLaughlin has done all that and more. Congratulations on a First Class novel.

Great read, and Historically accurate. For once we hear from the persian point of view. Great story line with fictious characters. Could use more detail maps if available. Would make a great docudrama. Bob
